Reflextologist
Duties and Resposibilities:
Reflexology is a massage-based form of alternative medicine that focuses on the hands and feet. A reflexologist has the following set of responsibilities: Meeting with clients and conducting an initial assessment. Explaining to new clients the principles and methods of reflexology. Applying hands-on massage to patient's feet and to a lesser extent their hands and ears.
Salary: $40,000 - $50,000
Education Requirements:
A reflexologist needs to attend certificate or associate degree programs in massage therapy with an emphasis in reflexology. They must have at least 110 hours of study in reflexology. Courses cover a wide variety of topics, including anatomy, foot mapping, reflexology history, reflexology theory and business practices. Students spend at least 10 hours working directly with patients in a clinical setting -- while under the supervision of an experienced reflexologist. This allows them to observe and try massage techniques before working on their own.
