Osteopathic Physician

Duties and Responsibilities-

An osteopathic physician work with patients to promote health education, nutritional information and getting ahead of disease before it happens. Osteopathic doctors are found in a variety of specialties, including geriatrics, pediatrics, surgery and others. Like any doctor they prescribe medicine or follow other treatments as the disease or trauma requires.They specialize in a treatment called manipulative therapy in which they use their hands to move parts of the patient's body, especially the muscles and bones, into the proper positions.

Salary-  $162,908 - $236,544

Education-  
Osteopathic physicians must be licensed. Requirements vary, but in all states osteopathic physicians must graduate from accredited osteopathic colleges, pass licensing examinations, and complete one to seven years of graduate medical education.

Skills Required-  
If you choose to become an osteopathic physician, you will focus on the same skills that an M.D. program teaches, including pathology, phlebotomy, neurology, diagnostics, invasive procedures, reporting, radiology, psychology and emergency  medicine.
