Sports Medicine

   Duties and Responsibilities: 
      Sports medicine physicians treat musculature injuries that occur as a result of participation in sports such as knee and shoulder injuries, ankle sprains, head injuries, tendinitis and fractures.They may also help athletes with psychological or substance abuse issues related to sports.
        Diagnose, treat, and help prevent injuries that occur during sporting events, athletic training, and physical activities. Diagnose or treat disorders of the minuscule skeletal system, and order and interpret the results of laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging procedures.

    $177,330 - $207,750
   Education:
      sports medicine physicians generally need  a bachelor's degree. Many large universities have health programs that offer 4-year degrees with an emphasis on sports medicine. Your courses in these programs will include a general core curriculum in the humanities and sciences, as well as more focused studies with courses such as anatomy and nutrition. Additionally, many of these programs provide opportunities for aspiring sports medicine practitioners to assist with their collegiate athletic teams
